मुंबई। मुंबई प्रेस क्लब ने गैस सिलिन्डर धमाके की घटना की रिपोर्टिंग करने गए मीडियाकर्मियों पर हमले की निंदा की है। सांताक्रूज इलाके मे गुरुवार को हुई इस घटना को कवर करने वाले इन मीडियाकर्मियों में संवाददाता, छायाकार, और चैनल के कई सदस्य थे।
मुंबई प्रेस क्लब की विज्ञप्ति-
The Mumbai Press Club condemns the attack on journalists, photo-journalists and TV crew members who were involved in ground reporting from gas cylinder blast site at Golibar in Santacruz on Thursday.
This incident should not be seen as a standalone event and it is yet another incident of attack of journalist community in Mumbai and elsewhere in Maharashtra – when they are on the line of duty.
This is a serious issue and Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio, must take cognizance of it. The incident happens at a time when the monsoon session of Maharashtra legislature is in motion.
We request the law-makers to discuss the attack on journalists and as promised and assured earlier must come out with a law making attack on journalists a cognizable and non-bailable incident.
We also request the Maharashtra Government and the Mumbai Police to ensure that those involved in today's attack on media practitioners must be brought to book immediately.
